Families South Africa (FAMSA) is dedicated to strengthening family life and promoting healthy relationships within communities across South Africa. Established in 1954, the organisation provides professional counselling, education, and community support services to individuals, couples, families, and youth facing social and relationship challenges. Through a nationwide network of affiliated offices, FAMSA works to empower people to build, restore, and maintain healthy relationships in families, marriages, and communities while promoting the importance of strong family structures in society.
FAMSA offers a wide range of programmes including relationship and marriage counselling, family therapy, parenting guidance, divorce mediation, trauma and grief counselling, and life skills training. The organisation also runs community awareness initiatives, youth development programmes, and support services for individuals affected by domestic violence, conflict, and other social challenges. Guided by the belief that healthy families create strong communities, FAMSA continues to work with government departments, community organisations, and donors to provide accessible psychosocial support and promote resilient families across South Africa.
