The National Council of SPCAs, commonly known as the NSPCA, is a South African animal welfare organisation dedicated to preventing cruelty and protecting the wellbeing of animals across the country. Established in 1955, the NSPCA serves as the national coordinating body for SPCAs in South Africa and works to enforce animal protection laws through inspections, investigations, and legal action when necessary. The organisation focuses on the welfare of domestic animals, wildlife, farm animals, and animals used in entertainment, research, and trade.

The NSPCA also provides education and awareness programmes aimed at promoting responsible animal care and humane treatment. Through partnerships with local SPCAs, government authorities, and international welfare organisations, the NSPCA continues to advocate for stronger animal protection policies and improved welfare standards. Its work plays an important role in supporting ethical treatment of animals and encouraging compassion and accountability within South African communities.
