Dr. John Benjamin is a well-established cardiologist practising in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa. He earned his medical degree (MBBCh) from the University of the Witwatersrand and became a Fellow of the College of Physicians of South Africa, later specialising in cardiology. He also completed the United States Board of Medical Examiners examinations in Louisiana, allowing him to practise in the U.S. Early in his career, he trained in echocardiography at the Brompton Chest Hospital in London and, on returning to South Africa, established the first dedicated echocardiography laboratory at the Johannesburg Hospital. He also served as physician in charge of cardiac catheterisation before moving into private practice and founding a cardiac unit at the Morningside Clinic in Sandton.

Dr. Benjamin’s clinical interests include echocardiography, invasive cardiology, cardiac catheterisation, and sports cardiology, influenced by his involvement in cardiological assessments during South Africa’s 2010 Soccer World Cup. He has contributed to cardiac research and education through participation in international clinical trials and lecturing to colleagues and students.
