Missionvale Care Centre is dedicated to uplifting vulnerable communities in Missionvale, a township in Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth), South Africa. Founded in 1988 by humanitarian Sister Ethel Normoyle, the centre was established to respond to the severe poverty, unemployment, and social challenges faced by residents in the area. Through compassion, community participation, and practical support, the organisation aims to restore dignity and create opportunities for individuals and families living in difficult circumstances.

The organisation provides a wide range of holistic services that focus on education, healthcare, and community development. These include a primary school for children, adult education programmes, youth development initiatives, and skills training opportunities that help community members become more self-reliant. In addition, the centre operates medical and wellness services such as doctor consultations, women’s health care, physiotherapy, HIV/AIDS counselling, nutrition programmes, and home-based care for those unable to access medical facilities.

Beyond providing immediate assistance, Missionvale Care Centre is committed to long-term empowerment and sustainable development. Through initiatives like vegetable gardens, craft production, recycling projects, and training centres, the organisation helps community members gain skills, generate income, and build a more hopeful future.
